NEXT DATE TBA

$75 for new students / $60 for returning

Led by Pearlann Porter and John Lambert, this 3-day immersion study at The Space Upstairs is for serious movement artists interested in intensely studying The Pillow Project's Postmodern-Jazz method of physical motion.

Simply, ‘Postmodern-Jazz’ is our movement method of physicalizing and playing with our role within the music. Our philosophy reveals our individual instincts, intentions, awareness, weaknesses and strengths through our own unique musical choices. There is no importance or significance to embodying any prior dance technique or employing any traditional vocabulary of learned sequencing, postures or shapes. Instead, we identify with and clarify our natural disposition within the music and further influence the sound through the one-of-a-kind motion we play.

Letting go of old physical restrictions, connecting with new artists, learning to actively observe, communicating openly with one another, tearing down walls, and take risks together as performers, visual-musicians, and expressive composers of this time...
