TERRA BUBO ("Land Spilled")
SEPTEMBER 22/23, 2023
doors open 8p / performance begins 9p
$15 in advance / $20 at the door
Terra Bubo is a conjuring, un-earthing, and deep-dive through a non-linear journey that co-mingles ancestral folk percussion and the islands that birthed them. While the performance is a contemporary composition, ancient rhythms, songs, and instruments are embedded throughout. Performers Renée Copeland and PJ Roduta interweave these sonic reclamations with movement, film and live-feed projection to further the narrative of interconnected vibrations and their diverse effects. The evening culminates with water percussion – a hydrophone within a bowl of water amplifies the performers’ personal artifacts and hands which splash and pour themselves into new invocation.
Terra Bubo was made possible through funding from American Composer’s Forum Create Award.
